One important thing in Tumblr theme designs are making block quotes noticeable and distinct.
With reblogging becoming more and more used (I have even been known to do it myself) some have hailed the end of comments. I wouldn’t go this far yet, but they make an interesting point: Are notes in Tumblr not just glorified comments?
However, if reblogging is to become the preferred way of commenting, then designs need to take that into account. I am not sure older ones to. My current one doesn’t, I have had to edit the CSS to enable to do so (and have only do it a couple of post types). This is great for me, who loves fiddling with code, but not good for those who are not like me. Which is the majority of the Tumblr community.
Block quotes (not the quote type of post, but a quote inside the text section) need to designed and styled in a way that makes it easier to see who has said what over what will undoubtedly become length conversations.
This isn’t a rant, more a constructive criticism and a reminder to myself and designers.
Peaceout.
