New Theme
So I was browsing round the themes section of the site and found this new theme. Kinda nice. Eventually I will my own. But right now, I like this. Not to sure of the colours of the blocks yet but I can change them once I have found a palette I like. Which might be a while. But hey-ho.
I wanted to write something deep and meaningful, something full of hope.
But all I can think is “Man, I am tired.”
Just launched the Vineyard Network Church Birmingham new site.

Things I’ve learnt today (9th Aug 2009)
- When buying a watch from Argos, give yourself like 3 hours to wait.
- To pick up a watch from said Argos you need to go to the ‘Jewelry and Watches’ till rather than ‘Pick Up Point A’ which it said to on the receipt.
- Shopping for shoes is frustrating
- There are 3 shops/outlets of Office in Birmingham
- Humongous is in the dictionary
One day.
I’m sure I’ll know.
Until then I will.

Block quotes and reblogs.
One important thing in Tumblr theme designs are making block quotes noticeable and distinct.
With reblogging becoming more and more used (I have even been known to do it myself) some have hailed the end of comments. I wouldn’t go this far yet, but they make an interesting point: Are notes in Tumblr not just glorified comments?
However, if reblogging is to become the preferred way of commenting, then designs need to take that into account. I am not sure older ones to. My current one doesn’t, I have had to edit the CSS to enable to do so (and have only do it a couple of post types). This is great for me, who loves fiddling with code, but not good for those who are not like me. Which is the majority of the Tumblr community.
Block quotes (not the quote type of post, but a quote inside the text section) need to designed and styled in a way that makes it easier to see who has said what over what will undoubtedly become length conversations.
This isn’t a rant, more a constructive criticism and a reminder to myself and designers.
Peaceout.
Today, I went with Sarah to St Paul’s Gallery to look at an exhibition of album cover designs (among other things). Mainly ones by Storm Thorgerson, who has done stuff for Pink Floyd, Muse and Biffy Clyro among others. This photo is one of my favourite ones. Quite a good gallery and worth checking out.
Yesterday I spilt water on my MacBook.
It now doesn’t turn on.
I am slightly concerned by this. Mainly just my data. The laptop can be fixed or replaced.
But it is in the server room, drying off.
So I am hoping/praying it works later today.
Still. Faff.
Sam Isaac — Bears
My pre order of Bears came today by the awesome Sam Isaac. To celebrate I have yoinked the flash player of Sams myspace. Give it a listen. Buy the album. Share the love.
Ps. If you are reading this on your Tumblr dashboard, you will apparently need to go to my actual post to listen. *shrug*
